June 1, 2011- The Polyester Price Continues to Increase in China

The polyester price continues to increase in Jiangsu Market. A leading manufacturer in Shengze increased some of semi-dull FDY products by 200-300 Yuan/ton. Now they quoted semi-dull FDY 75D/72F for 14,500 Yuan/ton and light FDY 40D/24F for 15,800 Yuan/ton by cash. Another two leading direct spinning manufacturers in Shengze also intended to increase the quotations, but the increasing range is not clear yet. Please pay attention to it afterwards. Manufacturers reported that the stock pressure was not high and was around 10-15 days’ amount. The polyester price slightly increased in Taicang, China. A local manufacturer increased POY products by 100 Yuan/ton generally and increased some of FDY products by 100 Yuan/ton. Now they quoted FDY 50D/24F for 15,500 Yuan/ton; POY 75D/144F for 16,300 Yuan/ton. Manufacturers reported that the sales were as usual yesterday and the production-marketing was around 70-80%.

The polyester price is mainly steady in Zhejiang Market. A POY manufacturer in Xiao Shan, China generally increased the quotations by 100 Yuan/ton. Now they quoted POY 150D/48F for 14,000 Yuan/ton. Another leading manufacturer adjusted some of POY products’ quotations. Now they quoted low-stretch DTY 150D/48F for 16,000 Yuan/ton. The polyester price slightly increased in Tong Xiang Market today. A local manufacturer generally increased POY products by 100 Yuan/ton and increased cation POY by 50 Yuan/ton. Now they quoted POY 75D/72F for 15,650 Yuan/ton and POY 150D/144F for 14,400 Yuan/ton. Manufacturers reported that the production-marketing was balanced yesterday.

At present, the price of upstream materials including PTA and MEG is in up-trend. The downstream demand can be satisfied by now. Therefore, it is predicted that under the joint pulling forward of cost and demand, the polyester yarn price will keep increasing.
