“The decision to permit exports of raw cotton will be taken after the new harvest in October 2011”, said Commerce Minister – Mr Anand Mohan Sharma.
During the current year, the government has permitted exports of 5.5 million bales, but had not revised the same, due to output estimates falling by 5 percent, due to untimely rains in the cotton producing states.
The Indian cotton marketing year begins from October and ends in September.
