On the eve of the visit of the Brazilian President to China, the country has imposed additional tariffs on imports of several Chinese-made synthetic fibers.
Brazil has adopted these measures on Chinese goods in a bid to stem the flow of cheap imports, which is impacting the local industry and economy.
Brazil has imposed an anti-dumping tariff of $4.1 per kg on several varieties of Chinese-made synthetic fibers and will be effective for a period of five years.
Customs checks will also be tightened to stop flow of Chinese contraband goods in to the country.
These measures have been imposed on demands from the domestic textile industry.
