Indian textile exports face EU non-trade barriers

Indian government has recently claimed that the European Union (EU) has been imposing non-trade barriers like labelling and certification on textile and garment exports from India.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia recently while answering a query, if EU has been raising protective trade barriers against garment exports from India, accepted that, EU has been setting forth protective barriers like labelling, certification and REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances).
In order to see to it that exports from India are not declined access in the EU markets the Commerce and Textile Ministry have raised this issue of the EU imposing non-trade barriers, before the India-EU Sub-Commission on trade, the Minister revealed.
